The editor's take
A 25-minute walk through banana plantations from El Rincón delivers you to Bollullo, a wild north-coast cove that feels a thousand miles from Tenerife's resorts. The sand is jet-black and coarse, framed by red volcanic cliffs and a single ramshackle chiringuito serving cold beer and fried fish. The Atlantic here is strong, the waves consistent, and it's a favourite of local bodyboarders. Swimming is possible but only when the sea is calm — check before you commit. Most visitors come for the sense of discovery and to sunbathe under cliffs untouched by development.
Insider Tip
Swim to neighbouring Playa El Ancón for total seclusion (calm days only).
Photo Tip
Walk west at low tide to find sea caves perfect for portraits.
