The full review
Bahía del Duque is the grande dame of Tenerife luxury — a 1990s reimagining of a 19th-century Canarian village, all pastel facades, ornate balconies and bougainvillea-draped courtyards opening directly onto Playa del Duque. The 346 rooms and suites are spread across low-rise buildings, each with the feel of a private mansion; the 41 villas in the Casas Ducales section come with butler service, private gardens and dedicated pools. Five swimming pools, ten restaurants, an acclaimed Bahía Wellness Retreat, and a full kids' programme make this the rare resort that genuinely works for both honeymooners and three-generation families. Service is gracious and old-world; many staff have been there for two decades. The breakfast buffet — taken on a terrace overlooking the Atlantic — is a 90-minute event worth the price of the room. Best for travellers who want classical Mediterranean elegance with all-day beach access.
Direct access to the south's best beach, and the most beautifully landscaped grounds on the island.
