What to expect
The pine forests above La Orotava offer some of the most beautiful trail-riding in the Atlantic islands — wide forest roads through scented Canarian pine with views over the cloud line to the coast. 2-hour rides suit beginners; experienced riders can book half-day routes that climb to high viewpoints. The horses are well-cared-for Spanish-Andalusian crosses, and the stables operate to recognised welfare standards. All equipment provided. Children must be 8+. Long trousers and closed shoes essential. The cool forest air at 1,000+ metres is a welcome contrast to the coast in summer.
