What to expect

Tenerife's Atlantic waters are warm year-round (18–24°C), and the volcanic underwater landscape — caves, lava arches, drop-offs — is among the most varied in Europe. Radazul on the south-east coast is the best beginner location, with shore dives accessible directly from the marina and resident populations of trumpetfish, octopus, moray eels and the occasional angel shark. PADI Discover Scuba sessions for total beginners run year-round; certified divers should ask about the wreck of the Tabaiba (a sunken minesweeper) and the El Condesito off Las Galletas.
